On December 17th, the animated series “Secret Level” launched by Amazon Prime Video sparked heated discussions among audiences and gamers. Among them, the animated story “The Way of All Things” of the hero Yixing in “Honor of Kings” is the only mobile game IP work and the only Chinese self-developed game IP work.

The story centers around “Yixing challenging the Celestial Artifice to avenge his parents”, using the Chinese traditional game of Go as the core narrative means. With the support of mature animation technology, the story and emotional conflicts progress layer by layer, and the animation tells the philosophical story of “free will vs. predetermined fate” in less than 20 minutes. Some overseas players said that the story not only shows the courage of the youth challenging fate but also reflects the philosophical thinking of “man can conquer nature” in Chinese traditional culture through the form of Go game.
In “The Way of All Things”, the Celestial Artifice is the core system in charge of Chang’an, the first mechanical city on the King’s Continent, with the ability to predict the future. Yixing, the chief Go player in Chang’an, witnessed the death of his parents in his childhood and thought it was caused by the Celestial Artifice, so he decided to take revenge. However, during the game, Yixing gradually realized that his parents’ death was not caused by the Celestial Artifice but their selfless sacrifice out of love for him. Therefore, Yixing chose the same path as his parents and tried to break the so-called “fate theory” by sacrificing himself.

The production of “The Way of All Things” is jointly completed by Amazon MGM Studios and Blur Studios, the creator of “Love, Death & Robots”. This animation is an important milestone in the internationalization of “Honor of Kings” IP. It not only presents the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture to the world but also opens up a new path for Chinese self-developed cultural IP in the international perspective.
